Missouri expungement: the paperwork, filled in for your court

Missouri's petition is a lawsuit, and you have to name every agency that might hold a record as a defendant. The order does not reach anyone you left off, and there is no list handed to you.

What the process actually is

Build the defendant list: the arresting agency, the local police or sheriff, the prosecutor who charged the case, the court itself, and the state repository. An agency you omit keeps its copy of the record even after the judge signs.
Choose which case to spend. The statute caps a lifetime at one felony and two misdemeanours or ordinance violations, so the order you file in is a decision, not a formality.
File form CR360 in the circuit court of the county where the case was prosecuted — separately in each county — with whatever cover sheet and local packet that circuit adds on top.
Get it wrong on any listed offence and the petition is dismissed and you cannot refile for a year from the filing date.

What it costs whoever does it

Expungement surcharge 250, paid on filing.
Circuit court filing fee, commonly 100 to 175.
Both can be waived if the court finds you unable to pay.
